About a French girl “cuisine”
Thank you for visiting a French girl “cuisine”, where I share with you my ideas about French food. Here you will find fast and easy French recipes together with more complicated ones. Sometimes you will even find recipes inspired by our neighbors.
I will open for you the doors of my French kitchen from the fashion apéro to the traditional stew and show you the kind of food I grew up with.
Most of my recipes have been tested several times. Unlike some others food blog owners, I love to eat the same thing, I have some madeleines baking right now. I also redo my pictures from time to time to train myself.
About Natacha Gajdoczki
My name is Natacha Gajdoczki. I am a French citizen living in Lausanne, Switzerland. I got a nice flat in the city center with my boyfriend Adrien and my cat Orky where I love to organise dinner parties. Holding a master degree in management from HEC Lausanne, I am working in digital marketing and that’s what I love to do during my free time … blogging about French food.
Why did I pick this name for my blog?
I choose a French girl because I am a French girl from Montpellier south of France. Cuisine is more complicated to explain. In French, it means cooking or kitchen; but I use it here as a verb. So in English, you would say “a French girl cooks” and in French you would say une fille française cuisine. I just mixed the two sentences!
Why did I start blogging in 2012?
Food always had a significant place in my life. As a child, I had to eat four meals a day… Breakfast, lunch, four o’clock snack break and dinner. Not at all that I was always hungry; but this was how I was seeing my daily meal plan. My mother was getting crazy sometimes. Usually you stop taking an afternoon snack break around eight years old (at least in France). When I stopped having regularly afternoon snack break, I think I was … sixteen. This doesn’t even mean that I totally quitted. From time to time you know… At some point, I woke up at 5.00 am every morning to get my bus at 6.00 am to leave for high school. That was not to look pretty and put some makeup but because I wanted to have at least 30 minutes to enjoy my breakfast. Nowadays, I need no more than 15 minutes to get ready and I don’t eat breakfast anymore. Definitely not because I don’t want to eat; but I love sleeping even more.
My grandma from my father side was a home cook. She was a housewife, raising two kids in France and in the US. She worked also a bit for Weight Watchers and she still follows their program. As far as I can remember I always see her trying new recipes and complaining when she missed (almost missed) a dish. Usually it was only overcooked for 30 seconds.
My grandma from my mother side was living in the countryside and she had a huge vegetable garden with almost everything. I am not kidding this was completely insane. When I was a kid she was only going to the supermarket to buy pasta, rice and ketchup (for me J). My grandpa was hunting and fishing. My grandma was cooking. They are both native of Brittany. That’s why I have some Breton blood in my veins.
Find her simplest recipe on my blog : mustard tart.
From my mother and father, I got the pleasure of receiving guests, organizing parties or big dinner celebrations. Today that’s what I like the most about cooking. Sharing a delicious meal surrounded by all my friends.
Depending on which friends are coming for dinner, I choose carefully the menu. Sometimes they love what I have just cooked and sometimes they don’t. Usually they tell me that I have worked too much. But this is my way to welcome them in my house.
Thank you very much for reading. Do not hesitate to contact me to share your thought about my blog.
